The issue this post is meant to fix has only been identified on 1.8.x clients.

Windows

1. Press Windows Key + R
2. Type %appdata% into the window
3. Click .minecraft
4. Check if a folder called server-resource-packs exists. If it doesn't create it and restart your game.

Mac

1. Press Command + Space
2. Type ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
3. Check if a folder called server-resource-packs exists. If it doesn't create it and restart your game.
